We’re back with another pair of “dynamic duo” stretches! Since this past Saturday was the celebration of “Batman Day” I felt that it was only fitting to have another addition to the dynamic duo series. I think that these stretches should be part of your daily routine and they aren’t complicated movements. Let’s take a look and see what new stretches will help in getting you more prepared for your workouts.
This stretch helps with the following:
- Boosts hip and thigh flexibility
- Improves balance and core stability
- Increases glute, quads, hamstring and lower body control and strength
Stand with both feet shoulder width apart and your arms straight in front of you. Walk forward swinging one leg up at a time tapping your toes against the opposite hand (left foot hits right hand or right foot hits left hand). Try to keep your legs and back as straight as possible. Aim for 5 – 10 reps per leg. To add a little difficulty to this stretch, try a skipping motion.
High Knee Pull (Knee Huggers)
This stretch helps with the following
- Improving range of motion in knees and hips
- Activates glutes and increases lower body control and strength
Stand with your legs shoulder width apart and raise one knee towards your chest. Grab your leg with both hands just below the knee and pull your leg closer to your chest and hold for a few seconds. Release, lower your leg, and repeat for opposite leg. Continue this stretch for about 5-10 reps per leg.
